What is a Nanolot?

A Nanolot is the rarest form of specialty coffee — a harvest so limited it comes from a single plot, a single farmer, and a single moment in time.

Each Nanolot represents less than a few dozen kilograms of green coffee, meticulously processed and roasted to express its purest terroir — the soil, shade, and skill behind its origin.

About the Farmer

For nearly two decades, he has tended this two-acre coffee farm with quiet, unwavering dedication. Yet for many years, the care he poured into the land wasn’t reflected in the harvest. Everything changed in 2020, when he embraced regenerative practices and discovered the power of nourishing and protecting his soil.
Surrounded by fruit trees such as jackfruit, lemon, and jamun, his farm began to rejuvenate — fallen leaves creating a natural mulch, and bio-inputs restoring balance deep within the earth.
From this renewed ecosystem emerged a cup both delicious and complex — a reflection of his patience, his learning, and his deep respect for the land he cultivates.

This specialty Nanolot, dried for 18 days, is complex and intense.

The jury highlighted its fruit-like sweetness, especially guava, intermingling with the intensity of cedar and boozy notes of whiskey.

Our cuppers found a bold cup with spiced rum, banana, and cola candy notes, all rounding out with a caramelized apple and chocolatey fruitcake richness.

Since ARAKU Coffee’s retail debut in Paris in March 2017, we’ve continued to elevate what exceptional coffee can be. Every year, our commitment to excellence has deepened — from harvesting and processing to curing, roasting, and packaging. This dedication to perfection has shaped a portfolio of terroir-driven coffees celebrated for their purity, precision, and distinctive character.

As our farmers mastered these techniques, many began producing coffees that surpassed even our finest terroir lots. In response, we introduced Microlots — individual plots harvested and processed to showcase rare expressions of flavour.

This year, we’ve reached a new high.

A handful of farmers have achieved a quality so rare, it surpassed every benchmark in our history. Under the guidance of global coffee expert Sherri Johns, a cupping jury handpicked five extraordinary lots. Each was processed independently to preserve its singular, exceptional attributes.

Today, these coffees come together as NANOLOT — the most limited, highest-scoring collection ever produced at ARAKU Coffee.

ARAKU Nanolot is India’s most exclusive collection of limited-edition specialty coffees, crafted in exceptionally small batches in the Araku Valley. Each release is a single-origin coffee harvested from a single plot and processed with meticulous precision to preserve terroir, flavour integrity, and natural sweetness. Curated by an international cupping jury, these rare, high-scoring coffees represent the peak of ARAKU’s regenerative agriculture and quality standards.
