ARAKU’s first flagship in India was conceptualised as a tranquil oasis, which brings together specialty coffee with fine dining. The two-storeyed café is home to India’s first Modbar and India’s first Specialty Coffee Association certified Premier Training Campus for coffee education – ARAKU World Specialty Coffee Academy. It’s also kitted out with an in-house roastery for the freshest brews and a bookstore with hand-picked favourites from around the world.
India’s first modbar
The sensory bar at ARAKU is primarily a coffee-brewing/retail experience, where customers can witness and sample manual brews made using French Press / V60 pour over / AeroPress / Moka Pot / Chemex. A complete sensory experience. The sensory bar also showcases all the manual brewing products that are available for retail, including the ARAKU Moka Pot, designed by Norwegian design duo, Anderssen & Voll.
Food
The food philosophy of ARAKU reflects the brand’s ethos of respecting produce and the very source through circular food economy (reducing waste), single-ingredient focus (exploring various textures and flavour possibilities in one dish), sustainable local procurement, and traceability. Many ingredients are sourced from Araku Valley, as well as urban farms. ARAKU also creates customised Tasting Menus for private dining, and has carved an intimate space on the second level for hosting these breakaway dinners or lunches.

In-house roastery
In order to always serve and home deliver fresh coffee experiences, beans are roasted in-house, at the brand new roastery. The freshly roasted coffee is used at the café or packed and dispatched for customers to enjoy at home. The design of the roasting section also allows customers to see the roasting process actively happen in front of them.
India’s First SCA-certified Coffee Academy
The second level of the flagship is also home to ARAKU World Specialty Coffee Academy -- India’s First SCA-certified Coffee Academy. Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), is a non-profit, membership-based organization that represents thousands of coffee professionals, from producers to baristas all over the world. At ARAKU World Specialty Coffee Academy, the goal is to build an international educational network where coffee professionals around the world can have access to SCA education in Bangalore, and the ability to pursue their dreams of a career in specialty coffee or quite simply learn about the world’s most favourite beverage and what makes us special.
Design
The café is designed by Mumbai-based Shonan Purie Trehan, of Labwerk, and New York based Architect Jorge Zapata. A fully sustainable vision comes to life with fixtures from locally-loved Sandeep Sangaru’s bamboo chandeliers, recycled paper and clay planters, recycled metal shelves, recycled paper vents and more.Conceptualized as a tranquil oasis. The minimalist and restrained design language is a gentle backdrop for the layers of curated cultural experiences of the café. The open and airy space houses carefully selected botanical specimens creating a green surround. The neutral tones give room for the expression of the curated artwork from our art partners Tarq gallery from Mumbai.
