Just when the coffee revolution in India has been brewing for a while, a new wave of enthusiasm is taking hold. It's not just about making coffee part of the morning ritual anymore; it's about the rich conversations that follow. Friends ask each other, "How do you brew?", "Where does this coffee come from?" and “How is it processed?”. This growing curiosity marks a significant shift in our coffee culture, where appreciation for coffee’s origin, tasting notes, and flavour profiles is at an all-time high.

Achieving ISO certification was a natural and necessary step in our journey to uphold these high standards. Which leads us to the exciting news:

We're ISO 22000:2018 Certified!

Here’s what this milestone means for your daily brew:

The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is a globally recognised body that sets rigorous standards to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems worldwide. ISO 22000:2018 is specifically designed to guarantee food safety at every step of the supply chain. It now means that your favourite ARAKU brew has met the rigorous standards of ISO for quality and safety. Here's to ensuring your coffee experience is nothing short of exceptional!

This internationally recognised certification reflects a rigorous, multi-phase examination of our entire coffee production, ensuring we meet stringent standards for food safety, hygiene, and quality management. Achieving this certification was no easy feat. It involved a thorough evaluation of our processes including sourcing raw materials, storage protocols, packaging materials, roasting procedures and dispatch operations as well as aligning with the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system – an internationally recognised management system that addresses food safety by analysing and controlling any potential hazards from seed-to-cup. It’s more than just another feather in our cap; it’s a conversation starter, an open invitation for you to ask questions and learn more about the care we put behind our beans.

Beyond ISO 22000:2018: Embracing Safety and Sustainability

Our commitment to safety goes beyond certifications. At ARAKU, we proudly champion social responsibility and sustainable practices, in association with the Naandi Foundation. While our ISO 22000:2018 certification underscores our dedication to safety, it’s just one facet of our broader commitment.

Here are a few ways we minimise our environmental footprint:

> Our coffee-growing techniques save 36 times more water than traditional methods.

> 35,000 rural women farmers have been trained in regenerative agriculture, cultivating 'Good Food Corners' with nutritious, chemical-free crops for food security and economic empowerment.

> We’ve planted 47.5 million trees to create functional food forests, boasting an 85% survival rate and the capacity to sequester 5 million tonnes of CO2 over the next two decades.

> Naandi’s regenerative agricultural model, Arakunomics™(PQR framework– profit for farmers, quality for consumers, regenerative for the planet), has earned the Rockefeller 2050 Food Vision Award and is endorsed as a G20 policy recommendation for nutritional and environmental security.

From being India’s first coffee to shape the complete seed-to-cup journey to now being ISO 22000:2018 Certified – the proof lies in the cup, literally.
