How to brew with Espresso Coffee Makers

You like your coffee with robust flavours and a rich body. In the 19th century, coffee was big business in Europe. As inventors sought to improve brews and reduce brewing time, the espresso was born! It is a preparation method in which highly-pressurised hot water is forced over coffee grounds to produce a very concentrated coffee drink with a deep flavour. Over time, several enhancements have been made to these brewers – nudging it out of cafés and making it home brewing friendly as well.

We recommend starting with a 1:3 or 1:4 coffee-to-water ratio. So for every gram of coffee, add 3-4 grams of water (roughly one-sixth of a teaspoon). Experiment to find the perfect ratio for you.
Steps to brew

Measure out the desired quantity of fine- to very fine-ground coffee on the kitchen scale. If the machine has a small water reservoir that can hold about 7-15g, choose a very fine grind; slightly increase the grind size if the reservoir is bigger. All ARAKU coffees except Micro Climate are recommended for espresso machines.

Add water to the reservoir in the machine.

Add coffee to the filter basket.

Switch on the start button for the automatic brew. Enjoy your shot!
